A&WMA-GWS One-Day Specialty Conference:
Current Developments in CEQA Guidance – The Road Ahead
This conference will provide presentations and discussions on current developments in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review guidance, the implementation of SB 375 and the Sustainable Communities Strategy (SCS). The information will address challenges for those who work with stationary industrial sources and for residential and commercial land use development.
Significant developments have occurred in addressing climate change and air quality in environmental documents in recent years due to the adoption of the Global Warming Solutions Act (Assembly Bill 32), Senate Bill 375, and more stringent national ambient air quality standards. These new environmental mandates must now be considered in land use development and in transportation planning.
This conference will include presentations on the current guidance and approaches to CEQA compliance in the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, Yolo-Solano Air Quality Management District, and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District. Climate Action Plans and their impact on the CEQA process will be discussed. Approaches for both mandated and voluntary pollutant or GHG reduction programs for CEQA and SB 375 will be described. SB 375 and related transportation challenges will be discussed. The conference should give attendees insight in how to navigate the road ahead to achieve CEQA project approvals.
