Student Scholarship & Sponsorship Programs
GWS Student Scholarships
Each year, the Golden West Section Scholarship Committee selects one or more graduate or undergraduate students as recipients of the Golden West Section annual scholarship. The selection is made on the basis of a detailed application including a statement of goals, academic transcripts, research and community accomplishments, and letters of recommendations. In recent years, our Section has offered up to $3,500 in scholarship funding for selected finalists. Candidates attend colleges and universities within the Golden West Section's geographic boundaries. Each of the Golden West Section scholarship recipients also receives a 1-year Student Membership to the International Air and Waste Management Association.
A&WMA Student Scholarships
A&WMA takes pride in supporting the future environmental leaders of our world in research, teaching, engineering, and environmental practice. For well over a decade, the Association has awarded scholarships to the most promising environmental students. Full-time graduate students who are pursuing courses of study and research leading to careers in air quality, waste management, environmental management/policy/law, and sustainability are eligible to apply.
Student Sponsorship Programs
The Golden West Section is seeking grants or sponsorship of $1,000 to $5,000 for university student scholarships and annual meeting activities, and for updating A&WMA environmental education teaching materials for Grades 6-12 that will be distributed to schools in our region and around the country. Sponsors will have their company identity specifically named in association with the selected activity.
GWS Scholarship Fund Donation
For many years the A&WMA-GWS has offered an annual scholarship to one or more students in the GWS Northern California region enrolled at an accredited university in undergraduate or graduate programs in atmospheric or environmental science and engineering; energy; environmental policy; or waste management. We have established the A&WMA-GWS Scholarship Fund, separate from the rest of the A&WMA-GWS operating budget. Your donation is tax deductible.
